Country Retreat Animal Sanctuary

Promax donation makes a lot of tails wag

Who: Country Retreat Animal Sanctuary

Products: 1 x 25,000 litre XPRESS tank in Mist Green

Where: Warkworth

Why: The team at the Country Retreat Animal Sanctuary in Warkworth had their work cut out. They loved looking after rescue dogs and pups, but getting water to the pooches was a task and a half. Volunteers had to carry multiple 20 litre containers of water over to the sanctuary two to three times a day. The water was needed for the dogs to drink and to allow the sanctuary team to clean the kennels and runs, so it was not just hard, hot and heavy work but vital work. It was expensive, too, as the sanctuary had to purchase 10,000 litres of water every fortnight. Promax were able to help out with a very significant and practical donation.

What: Promax donated a 25,000 litre XPRESS tank so the sanctuary could access water on-site instead of carrying heavy containers from one place to another. The tank is large enough to store plenty of drinking water for the dogs and pups and provide water for cleaning the kennels and runs. The sanctuary’s kennel rooms measure three metres by three metres, and the runs are three metres by 30 metres, so cleaning them takes a lot of water. On top of this, bedding is washed every day. A large Promax tank is just what the doggies ordered. The facilities will be even cleaner now there’s enough water for water blasting the kennels and runs, which will further improve the well-being of the dogs. Volunteers are also grateful, as carrying heavy containers of water was physically challenging, and the on-site tank lightens their workload.

The Country Retreat Animal Sanctuary purchased 10,000 litres of water a fortnight, a major expense by any standards. The donated tank allows the sanctuary to collect and store its water, a real money saver for this voluntary organisation.

The sanctuary plans to use some stored water to fill paddling pools during the summer. The dogs will gain confidence in the water and enjoy splashing about, while the sanctuary’s volunteers won’t have to worry about splashing out on bought water!
